Tell us a bit about your role at IbisVision? What are your main goals and objectives?
My role is US Head of Operations. My main objective is to bring the IbisVision platform to the US market and increase access to eyecare by implementing our unique fully remote technology through multiple channels. My aim is to share the IbisVision platform's exceptional value with both clinicians and patients in every kind of examination environment.
Can you share a little about your past experience in the eyecare industry?
It all started with family—my father was an Optometrist. As a young girl, my greatest aspiration was to work alongside him. After college, I began my journey as his Optician, and it felt like the perfect fit right from the start. I progressed through various roles in the industry, from managing labs to overseeing Ophthalmology practices, and eventually transitioned to corporate America in 2014 where I played a key role in building one of the most widely recognized tele-optometry platforms in the US.
Why do you think the continued introduction of telehealth solutions in the US will be beneficial to both clinicians and patients?
Tele-optometry has advantages for both patients and healthcare providers. Embracing telehealth solutions opens up a wealth of opportunities in eye care by making eye care more accessible. This enhanced accessibility not only drives sales growth but also elevates patient experiences, bolsters customer acquisition, and increases retention. IbisVision’s platform enhances patient convenience by providing completely remote and flexible solutions for both clinicians and patients. By prioritizing “eyecare anywhere” we are promoting vision health and the importance of routine comprehensive eye exams.
In your opinion, what are the challenges with telehealth adoption in the US?
In our world today where telehealth is growing fast, policies that allow optometrists to practice across state lines through licensure reciprocity or streamlined processes would expand access to care. Also, a flexible regulatory framework allowing for rapid deployment of ocular telehealth services during public health emergencies or natural disasters would improve our healthcare system’s resilience. As healthcare evolves, we can only hope that regulations will change to meet the changing needs of the market.
How do you think IbisVision’s solutions can support the eyecare industry?
IbisVision’s synchronous and asynchronous models are expanding access to care by creating opportunities to serve remote communities, the elderly, disabled and even the simply reluctant which offers immense public health benefits as well as making the most efficient use of the doctor’s time. In addition to testing, the platform allows for easy at home follow ups, myopia management, triage and remote monitoring
What do you feel is unique about IbisVision’s product offering compared to others in the market?
The IbisVision solution is the only FDA listed, HIPAA compliant, fully remote solution where the patient can be anywhere, and the doctor can be anywhere using no ophthalmic equipment. This offers patients and clinician’s the flexibility to complete an exam whenever and wherever it is convenient for them.
What would you say to any professionals and/or organizations who haven’t yet made the move to telehealth but are considering it?
I would tell them the train has already left the station and there’s no looking back. Patients today expect a higher standard of care, engagement, and convenience. For growth-minded companies, adding remote eye care testing is the logical step to stay ahead of the current market. From a care perspective, tele-optometry offers new and exciting options for examining, treating, and monitoring patients in ways that we never have before. IbisVision is leading the industry by providing the easiest and most cost effective way to reach the most possible patients.
