What an exciting year it’s been for IbisVision. We’ve had some big successes along the way, met some great, new people in the sector and continued to make some new development to our online vision testing platform. To mark the end of this year, we’ve put together a round-up of some of our highlights from the last 12 months; let’s take a look!

Supporting charity to kick off our year. We kicked off 2023 by once again offering our support to the Optoversity Challenge where teams from 11 universities came together to compete online. As always, we were delighted to support the Challenge organised by Out of the Box Optics in aid of Vision Care for Homeless People.

The UK’s biggest optical event. 100% Optical was next on our agenda and a big hit for our team where remote refraction was the star of the show. We joined our UK distributor Birmingham Optical and showcased our online platform to everyone at the show from optometrists right through to optometry students.

Announcing our investment. In May we were delighted to announce that we raised £4.5 million in growth funding to allow us to further expand our team and operations in the US with the support of previous investors Compiler VC, Deepbridge Capital and Scottish Enterprise.

Being recognised for our technology. IbisVision was shortlisted in the Scotland Digital Technology Awards in the Product/Service Innovation category. This awards show brings together companies in Scotland embracing and innovating with technology. To add to our industry recognition, our CEO also appeared on the Deepbridge Discovery Podcast to talk about IbisVision’s journey so far, our technology and our road to investment.

Furthering our work with the NHS. We extended our contract with NHS Forth Valley. An important project for IbisVision, the continuation of our contract with Forth Valley included 12-month's of clinical validation in up to 5 sites across Scotland and England.

Vision Expo; the events of the year. The IbisVision team went on some international travels with a trip to New York. We attended Vision Expo East, one of the biggest eye care shows in the US. We also used this opportunity to showcase exactly our platform works by carrying out remote eye exams across New York including locations such as Central Park, Top of the Rock and Grand Central Station. Later in the year, we attended another Vision Expo, this time in Las Vegas! Here, we launched some big updates to our platform and our refraction technology.

Growing our team. We welcomed our new UX/UI Designer, Sebastian, to the team this summer who came on board to support our marketing and development teams in bringing our platform to the market. Our Head of US Operations, Erica, then joined us in August to lead our US activity and we also recently welcomed another member, Tanveer, who joined our development team as our new Technical Analyst. We’ve loved welcoming new members to our team this year and look forward to introducing some new people to IbisVision in 2024.

Recognising eyecare volunteers. We offered our sponsorship to Vision Care for Homeless People and their Volunteer Recognition Award for all the hard work and efforts done by their team of volunteers throughout this year. The last one of 2023 was announced just this week; a nice way to finish the year for a wonderful charity.

As you can see 2023 has been a busy and successful one for IbisVision and we’re excited to continue to work with our customers and partners in 2024.
